Christmas Dresses for Girls

Christmas Dresses
Christmas Dresses
At Sophias Style, we are loving these classic satin bubble dresses by Kids Dream in our girls Christmas dresses collection.  They come in silver, dark purple and blue, but my favorite is definitely the red- perfect for the holidays.
Now that July is drawing to a close, it's time to get serious about fall and winter shopping.  This year, I have vowed to put money aside ahead of time for Christmas.  That way, as soon as I see something that would make a good gift, I'll be able to buy it without hesitation.  August and September are the perfect months to start shopping for Christmas dresses for girls, all the new styles will be arriving.  Now you can start watching for one you really love, and snag it before it sells out.  We try to keep our Christmas dresses in stock all the way until December, but the more popular styles sometimes don't make it past mid-November.  If you're looking for Christmas dresses for infants or Christmas dresses for babies, Sophias Style is definitly the place to check.  Most of our dresses are available in a wide range of sizes, so you can find coordinating styles for siblings of any age!

Pageant Gowns | SophiasStyle.com

Pageant Gowns
Girls Pageant Dresses
The selection of pageant dresses for girls at Sophias Style has been continuing to grow, and we've got some truly beautiful styles now.  I especially love the multi tone pageant gowns, they're so unique.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when ordering girls pageant dresses:

- Always place your order at least six weeks before the pageant.  That way you have plenty of time to get it altered or order a different size if it doesn't fit quite right.
- Make sure you read the rules regarding the formal wear competition at her pageant, different pageants have different requirements and levels of formality.
- Find hair accessories to match her gown, this will really help complete the look and tie everything together (it's the little details that make the biggest difference).
- Make sure you purchase shoes that she can walk in.  Sophias Style has a beautiful selection of kitten heels that will look fabulous without hurting her feet or making it difficult to balance.
- Choose a color that compliments her complextion and, if she is going to wear makeup, practice ahead of time so you know nothing clashes. You don't want her coral lipstik to suddenly look orange when she puts on her pink pageant gown.
- Test out a few different hair styles with her gown, see what looks best with the style of neckline she'll be wearing.
- Keep the jewelry to a minimum.  Go with earrings and a bracelet, and maybe a choker if she's wearing a gown with a simple cut.
- Remember to make sure she's having fun, the most important accessory is her smile!

Little Girls Dresses | Sophias Style

Little Girl Dresses
It's the last week of July!  That means fall is just around the corner- hopefully it will bring a few slightly cooler days our way, Nebraska has been unbearably hot for weeks now.  I know that not everyone is thrilled to see the end of summer on it's way, but I can't help getting excited.  At Sophias Style, all of our summer girls dresses and baby dresses are on sale (so now's the time to grab those great bargains).
You know what's the best part of fall fashion?  Most of it is just summer clothing that's been re-styled!  For example, all those cute little sundresses you bought for your girl?  Now those are all layering pieces.  Perfect for back to school, because in the mornings and evenings she'll need sweaters and jackets, but in the afternoons it'll get hot and she'll want to lose some of those layers.  So, just invest in lots of wool tights and a variety of cardigans and soft jackets, and boom, all of her little girls dresses just became fall clothing.

The other great thing about fall is that it brings on a whole new selection of flower girl dresses and holiday dresses.  Are you as excited as I am to see all of the beautiful baby girl dresses we'll have this year for Christmas and fall/winter weddings?  From what I can tell, the luxe look is still going to be huge this year, so bring on the velvet, satin and sequins!  I'm really loving all the deep jewel tones, like emerald green, sapphire blue and ruby red.  What could be more elegant?  Your little girl will look like British royalty in the gorgeous girls holiday dresses we'll have at Sophias Style this season!

FEED THE FAMINE

Last week here in Melbourne and around the world we were shown gut wrenching and painful images of the famine that has hit the Horne of Africa. As I sat in my lovely home and soo comfortable in my safe surrounds the 6pm news detailed the horrid events that has struck Africa yet again. Seeing women and children in endless queues in hope to get help. Camps filed with desperate people. Families walking days looking for help only to arrive at a destination that has no room for them or their dying children.
I was in Eritrea 8 months ago and remembered the desperate measures people were using to get the next meals. I did forgot a lot of the pain I came across experienced by close family and strangers once I was back to my safe haven her in Australia.

Those very images filled me with soo much anger and distaste towards my attitude. No wonder the world today is what it is. Everything seems a distance from us. I for one have lost that anger and raged that I experienced whilst there.

This time though Inshallah it will be different even if it is in the smallest way. After been approached by a friend to help raise funds I jumped at it. This is in no way to gloat or feel good about it. A group of sisters from all walks of lives have come together to raise funds.

SO PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY TO THOSE LOOKING FOR THERE NEXT MEAL BY DONATING THROUGH THE LINK BELOW.

A few facts from UNICF site:

Somalia
Famine has officially been declared in South Somalia.

Of the 3.7 million people that are affected, half are under the age of 18 and one in five of those affected are under five years of age.

A famine is declared when acute malnutrition rates for children exceed 30 per cent and death rates for children exceed four in every 10,000 of the population.

UNICEF is supporting over 800 Nutrition Centres, including 400 Outpatient Therapeutic Programme (OTP) centres where severely malnourished children are treated.

Kenya
In Kenya, more than 385,000 children and 90,000 pregnant and lactating women are suffering from malnutrition.

Conflict and drought in neighbouring Somalia has put additional pressure on resources at the border and on the limited services available in overcrowded refugee camps. There are 10,000 new arrivals each week into the Dadaab camp in north-eastern Kenya, which already holds more than 380,000 refugees.

UNICEF is working with its partners on the ground to provide therapeutic foods to malnourished children as well as providing safe water sources and emergency access to education for children.

Ethiopia
The worst drought in 60 years has heavily affected the food security situation in Ethiopia. The number of people in need of emergency food assistance has increased from 2.8 million at the beginning of the year to 3.2 million in April.

Drought and food price increases has resulted in increased malnutrition among children. Over 300,000 severely malnourished children will require life-saving nutrition treatment this year.

The high risk of large-scale flooding and a continued influx of refugees from Somalia is further exacerbating the situation.

Girls Uniform Dresses
Girls Uniform Dresses
Back to school season is upon us!  That means it's time to start stocking up on school uniforms for the kids, and Sophias Style has a great selection of school uniform skirts and school uniforms dresses this year.
The great thing about uniforms is that they're easy to shop for, you don't have to spend hours agonizing over which style and whether or not it's going to be fashionable this year, and if she'll actually wear it.  You can buy her wardrobe for the entire year in one stop.  I recommend ordering at least six complete outfits, that way she has enough variety to wear a completely new outfit every day of the week, and she can mix and match the separates to create new looks.  You could get a simple polo shirt in six different colors, and then order two girls uniform skirts, two girls uniform dresses, and two pairs of pants or shorts.
Sophias Style carries uniforms by trusted designer brands that guarantee lasting quality, so they'll stay looking crisp and clean throughout the entire semester!

Figure Skating Clothing | Sophias Style

Figure Skating Clothing
Figure Skating Clothing
It's important to find sports and activities that kids can really enjoy.  It gives them exercise, teaches them about the importance of practice and effort, and it gives them fun opportunities to show off and develop a sense of pride.  Also, competitive sports will eventually teach them how to win and lose gracefully.
Figure skating is an especially neat sport, but it's not always easy to find all of the figure skating clothes a child will need.  Especially if you're hoping to find them at affordable prices.  Luckily, Sophias Style is now carrying beautiful designer figure skate clothing that your little skater is sure to love.  Not only is our figure skating clothing great quality, but it's reasonably priced!  If your child is going to start skating, they'll be need good practice clothing as well as some beautiful figure skating skirts and dresses for performances.  But don't be intimidated by the shopping list, with Sophias Style you can find the figure skate clothes she needs in one stop, and all at prices you'll love.

Trendy Melbourne get a face lift !!!!!!

Hey Ladies,

Hope were all well and in good health inshallah.

So where to start with this one. You see it's been a long time coming where I have pondered long and hard about the urgent face lift this beautiful blog required and you guessed it... I never got around to it.
Until tonight..... yeah!!!!!!!
Ohh I hope you like :$

In between praying my Isha ( the prayer before bed) I looked over to my bed and my laptop sat there staring back and that was when it all changed. To be honest what to post was all I was really thinking at the time but alas Trendy Melbourne gets a new look. A face lift and a new enthusiasm towards my blog now. Ahhh feels good I have to say. Ohh Inshallah I will personalises it a lot more (when my photography skills improve),
Subhanallah it made me realize that I need to say Inshallah more often. I think I over think things soo much that I forget that if Alah does not will for it to happen that it won't.

So a little reminda from none other then the quran relating to this very issue from the glorious Quran:

Sahih International
And never say of anything, "Indeed, I will do that tomorrow,"

Except [when adding], "If Allah wills." And remember your Lord when you forget [it] and say, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to what is nearer than this to right conduct." Surat Al-Kahf chapter 18.

May Allah Guide us all. Amen

Please let me know what your thoughts are... did I go overboard, tried too hard, boring or may be you didn't even notice..
I need the feed back :)

Thanks in advance

Love Always,

Lygon Street

Greetings to all the lovely ladies out there,

Hope your all well and in good health inshallah.

As proposed on my last post the second edition of my street strolls is here……..If you live in Melbourne or have visited this beautiful city you would have seen or heard of Lygon street. It’s our Italy put simply.

If your after a great coffee to go with a great chat in a cafe with the special people in your life then this is the place. Seriously non of that automatic coffee machine that dispense horrid coffee. You only need to get yourself down to Brunetti and see for yourself. You will find coffee beans from around the world. Amazing mouth watering desert I can go on but this post is about the whole of Lygon street not just Brunetti.

Look Lygon st is not only good for coffee.. it’s just that I love my coffee sooo much Smile with tongue out

So why all the love you ask? well it was that lasting impression left with me.  I’m talking about some 5 years ago while I was still at school. As part of our study camp we were staying a few blocks from Lygon st. It was during summer, which meant the streets were filled with shoppers and people getting away from there cramped apartments. The restaurants were packed as were all the awesome Gelati stores that lined the street. We were taken there for dinner, and It was that awesome atmosphere that remains with me every time I venture on to Lygon st.

Enjoy…………….

A Stroll through Carlton…..

Hello ladies,

Wishing you all the best of health Inshallah.

I had a day off last Monday and thought of making the most out of it. I have to say i love having a Monday off, the weekend has that extra bit of awesomeness about it.

We went to Carlton, a suburb minutes out of the CBD. I love it so much!!!! It has a rich sense of history, culture and age. Walking the streets lined with beautiful warm cafes and restaurants perfect  on a cold winter day. The other thing I love about Carlton are the small boutique stores. It could be fashion or homeware your bound to find a beauty.

We settled for Ratherdowne St for some late breaky and coffee with my sister and cousin. We walked in to the Food store , a small cafe with a cute fire place where we sat and sipped our coffee away. Once seated by the warm fire place and in the cosy surrounds of the cafe you forget the nippy cold weather outside.

After sometime we took to the street to window shop the handful stores that were open for a Monday. To my disappointment I found that the store I was looking forward to seeing had closed down. I was guttered because I thought I was going to find yet another bargain as I had done on my last visit. See here

Here are the pictures….…
