Happy Halloween!

Girl's Halloween Costume

Have you seen this gorgeous Belle costume?!  This honestly makes me wish I was a kid again, I loved Beauty and the Beast!  Belle was so awesome, she liked to read books, she totally ignored the big, arrogant jock guy, Gaston, and then she fell in love with the Beast instead.  Fabulous story, great music, too.

It's been awhile since I've had time to post activity ideas, but you're in luck- because today I have three adorable Halloween ideas for your family and neighbors!  I didn't come up with these on my own, they're courtesy of my wonderful office-neighbor, Jean. 

Idea 1:  Host a neighborhood safe party!
Serve chilli or soup, and request that each family in attendance bring a side dish.  Set up classic Halloween games for the kids, like bobbing for apples.  Require all the adults to bring a picture of themselves when they were little wearing a costume.  Kids love to see photos of their parents as children, and the adults will have fun laughing about how cute and dorky everyone was! 

Idea 2:  Visit a local nursing home or retirement home (call first, of course) with the kids. 
A lot of times, the people in these homes don't get to see kids in Halloween costumes, so it's a sweet way to brighten up their Halloween season.  Bring "treats," like large-print magazines and playing cards, and maybe hard candy. 

Idea 3:  If you live near a college or university, call and see if there's something you can do for the freshman dormitories.  A lot of those kids are away from home for the first time, and come the end of October, might be getting quite homesick.  A little bag of Halloween treats made with love might really cheer them up.

Christmas Dresses

Christmas can be so stressful sometimes.  I love buying gifts for my family and close friends, but I hate when I can't think of anything original.  My poor brother, he must have an entire closet full of sweaters from me- he's been getting a few for every holiday since I was sixteen.  Don't get me wrong, they're great sweaters, I have impeccable taste, but there isn't really any suspense when it comes times to open gifts.  This year, I'm hoping he'll ask his girlfriend to marry him, and then they can have babies and I can buy them this gorgeous diaper bag next Christmas! 

I've already planned all the ways I'll spoil their kids when they have them- which irritates my brother to no end (weird, right?).  Hopefully there'll be a girl, so I can take her shopping and buy her beautiful girls clothes from Sophia's Style.  I also want him to have a girl every time I look at the stunning Christmas dresses we've got on the site!

Clinique pack

I arrived home this arvo from a long day at work to find a beautiful white parcel with a purple ribbon tied on it on my bed. I went all frantic trying to open it because I just couldn't remember what was in it?
Grabbed the scissors frantically and I cut the package open to find a gorgeous grey and white makeup bag with 5 Clinique skin care products. Omg they are soo cute!!!!.
I just can't wait to use them tomorrow morning.
Clinique has been a brand I always wanted to use but never had the money to purchase their products (can get a bit dear to purchas the skin care range)
I was surfing a few skincare sights a few weeks ago and came across this travelers pack. A brilliant option when your not too sure how the products going to be. I'm going by recommendations with Clinique but we all know with skin care it's each to their own  right?.
 I'm soo excited to start using the city block because of black spots I have as a result to prolonged sun damage.


It's soo sad that I'm soo excited about something soo little.I guess it's not everyday you receive a pretty parcel like I did today.

A girls night!!!

I attended a girls night which was soo well organised and run by the sister from the Hume Islamic Youth Center. My cousins and i went along an really enjoyed catching up with old friends and making a few more on the night.

The room was soo well set up and soo inviting to say the least. heaps of time and effort was put into tonight Mashallah. it is the first of many to come, if tonights anything to go by well it's goning to be awesome.
Great food and desert i think the pictures below says it all.
Now here is the thing i went along with my camera in hand ready to snap a few sister and their gorgeous outfits but i was soo disappointed because too many were just too shy to share their outfits or some were not wearing their hijabs.
But i did manage to catch two gorgeous sister who just looked awesome.

What i wore to work today!!!!

I woke up today and I looked over to my dresser and saw my brand new ring and knew instantly what i was going to wear. It was such a beautiful sunny day in Melbourne I wanted to wear a bit of colour after months of grey and blacks thanks to winter.
This gorgeous butterfly top has been the purchase of this year. It's soo elegant and comfortable. It can easily be dressed up or down. i loveeee the print and colours. Purple and coral are just soo awesome!!!!!
The body tights I'm wearing is also amazing basics for Muslim women who have to dress modestly. I have them in every colour.
My skirt is a new find from Supre. I have been looking for comfortable plain long black skirts for ages. I stocked up just in-case i can't find them.
the shoes was a case of love at first sight :P
I have worn them everyday and boy are they comfortable.
My accessories are all from Diva.I just love the large ring and the bangles.
I just can never seem to have enough jeweleries.

First Day Of Fall | Sophia's Style

i'm addicted to fashion magazines. i need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the thing I went to my local supermarket to pick up a few snack items for work last night right. so I walked in and followed my normal routine of having a look at all the aisles and picking things up. My biggest weakness in their isn't chocolates or ice-cream no, i'm talking FASHION MAGAZINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously I stood there for a good 10 min not sure if the Fcuk t-shirt that will come with the Cleo was better then getting the Vogue and the awesome big black tote bag. I stood there pondering as people rushed past me. I walked off with 4 magazines in hand because I just couldn't decide which one to leave. Very weak me think :P

grrr the brownlow let down 2010

I predicted last night that we won't be seeing anything special tonight. I wasn't too far off the mark there.
Seriously not one WAG looked good enough for all the hype the event receives. Not one of them dressed for the occasion.
Too many blacks and boring outfits for me. should I mention that these WAGS don't exactly have events galore to attend that we can maybe say it this one was a miss. They have 12 months to get their act together yet many just don't know how to work the red carpet.

I'm talking about the WAGs that we know really well,  you know the one that just never miss the opportunity to be in the social pages. Call me harsh if you may, but i say if your going to annoy me all year every Sunday morning as i enjoy the paper at least dress properly the one time i want to see you.

Brownlow night and the red carpet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok here is the thing i love watching red carpet events on tv and then follow it the next moring at work searching the net to see the pictures.
However it's always a let down for me. i look forward to it all day and then 1. you don't see the dresses much, just flashes of movement and 2 it's always the same celebrities or WAGs that look the same every year that get a run.
Tommrow night is Brownlow night.
If your not sure what i'm talking about? It's the night where the best AFL player is named. A night where all the WAG's (wife and girlfriends of footballers) get to dress up in designer clothes and jewels and then strut their stuff on the red carpet.

We have seen many gorgeous gowns but just as many blunders over the years.

The first and third dress both clearly never heard of the saying 'less is more" and as for the middle the famous bec twiggly now for some reason she never seems to dress well enough yet gets all the hype. this dress is very difficult to assess. is it the colour? I just can't put my finger on it :(

Alright enough of this, now same time tomorrow i will let you guys all know on my thoughts on the 2010 Brownlow medal red carpet.

Perfect Flower Girl Dresses | Sophia's Style

I went to the most beautiful wedding this weekend.  It was outdoors, and the weather was perfect- which was so lucky, because the very next day was a rainy mess- and everyone in the wedding party looked stunning. 
The flower girl wore this beautiful little tea length flower girl dress with a puffy skirt, and she was so obviously loving it and enjoying all the attention she was getting.  I wish I'd had a camera so I could post a photo of her!  I did, however, find this adorable photo of twin flower girls in their flower girl dresses from Sophia's Style on our Sophia's Style Stars page, and I had to share it.  The girls look gorgeous, and I love the dresses they're wearing.

Personalized Gifts For Your Loved Ones | Sophia's Style

While in college, I nannyed for a family with five children, and the youngest one was a little girl named Madeline who was only two months old when I started.  Her mother had of course received lots of gifts when Maddie was born, and amoung them were two particularly precious things:  a blanket with Madeline's name embroidered in one corner, and a pink sleeper with her name embroidered on the chest.  It turns out, these were gifts from Maddie's godmother, and she'd had them made for each of the children in the family.  Maddie's mom told me they'd use the sleeper until Maddie outgrew it, and then she wanted to save it with Maddie's scrapbook.  All of the kids were still using their special blankets with their names on them; even the ten-year-old. 
It really does mean a lot to new Mothers and Fathers to received personalized baby gifts and personalized baby clothes.  It's also good for older kids because personalized kids clothes help children learn to recognize letters and sound out words. 
Adding embroidery to gifts is a great way to make standard presents extra special, so if you're shopping for a baby shower gift of a birthday present, make sure you consider it!
